Three months ago, this quirky, cute baby was born! These pictures are of our expressive newborn. How much more she giggles and squirms now!

She is here! Life! Resurrection!
The air is still frigid. Wind howls through town; and like waves, crashes against any building standing in the way.
I run and my lungs burn dry with this cold cutting air. My body tells me, "She is here. Beneath. All around. Spring. Life." I jump up and run to see her; but outside, winter is still working hard.
the birds sing, "When?"
she breathes, "Watch."
Many see these intuitions as 'winter blues'. But today I know, we are all a pregnant body, feeling the kicks and jabs of blooming life within.
The flower beseeches, "I am on my way, in my time. When I am ready. Prepare a place for me." A resurrection is imminent.
My feet are hitting the broken and frozen pavement. Even though my panting returns, I am full of this future. The air is still cold. Winter howls through the towns, like waves, crashing against the shores. I am thankful for this insight.

Handmade Pads
Honestly, 6 years ago, I wasn't keen on the idea. Cloth menstrual pads. Hmm... It goes against all I knew. Now, 5 years of cloth diapering later....
Why not? They're great! And reusable. And natural. And clean.
There's all sorts of information online about them. All I can say is that they are really fun to make and way more beautiful than the landfill disposables. I mean, is that really what we want to leave for the archaeologists of the future???
The following link was my first stumble and revelation: http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/sanitarypads.htm
Cloth toilet paper is the bomb too!

Sock Knitting Class!
Lately I've been working on putting together a sock-knitting class for a few friends who would like to learn how to knit socks. If you are in the Harrisonburg area and would like to be involved, please let me know so I can get a count for how many are interested. The class will be held around the beginning or middle of February.
Also let me know if you will be needing yarn or needles so I may purchase (which I will need to be reimbursed for) the materials ahead of time. I do have wholesale status, so I can get great prices on yarn and can make recommendations for needles or order a few sets at once.
The class is going to be a lot of fun! I think we will do 2 sessions. We will be using the Tin Can Knits Rye sock pattern and tutorials.
