Tonight's Music

Guess what?  A new knitting song is here.  We just wrote and recorded it one hour ago.  Hope you get some mild enjoyment from it at least.  Listen while you can.  Tomorrow I may decide I hate it.  That happens.  A lot.

Meet the Vermi Youngs

After a recent trip to New Hampshire, our good friends gave us a carton of Red Wrigglers.  When we got home, we pretty immediately put together a worm bin for them.  Every day we pull it out and say hello.  They seem to have reproduced a fair bit already.  I love seeing them crawling through the soil.  Sometimes we sing.  We always bless them for their good contribution to our lives!

Brother Chicory Knits Sneak Peek!!!

We've been working on this project for a few months now.  In July we wrote 7 songs around the theme of knitting.  Since then we have been working on the arrangements, recording, designing and voila!

I am particularly bad at secrets.  Here are a few sneak peeks of some of the work I'm doing tonight!

A New Home

You may or may not know that we moved into our own house (no longer in a community house).  Here are a few of the first pictures we took here.  It's been a peaceful and rejuvenating time so far.    In case you are wondering, we did not get a cat!  We were just cat sitting.  :)

Harvest Happens

There was a bit of a small hiatus of my blogging habits.  Harvest happened.  The kitchen is full of canned goods and lots of fermenting beauties.

On my fermenting shelf right now is 2 different kinds of green tea kombucha, 3 bottles of apple vinegars, 1 jar of pear vinegar, 3 jars of smreka (fermented juniper berries) and a wild cultured cheese that we have been able to make (first by accident...and it's delicious and is very similar to a hard cheese or mozzarella before being pressed).

We began a 6 gallon batch of pear mead.  It's bubbly!!!

I pitched it with honey yesterday and it went crazy.  Can't wait to bottle this and let it age for 6-12 months.

Two Random Shots

This year I collected mature lavender heads and dried them, preserving the seeds.  We have lots of seeds for next year.  I do love lavender!

And.... Kids can never figure out how mom knew it was them... Poor Lego Man in the Diapers!

The Joy of Milking

The Cow and Chicken Project... A Typical Work Day (once every week)  We go up to the pasture, milk the cow, take care of the chickens, collect eggs, hang out and enjoy this life.

Thanks to the cow Raspberry and all the lovely hens!
